About Our Provider
Melissa Day, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Melissa Day is a Family Nurse Practitioner that has her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, 8 years of experience as a primary care provider, and 14 years of nursing experience.
She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support. Nurse Practitioners are independent providers and can work in their own private practice or in a group practice according to state and national laws. Melissa is licensed in both South Dakota and North Dakota, and is certified nationally by the AANP.
She earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Mary in 2011. After working as a Registered Nurse for 3 years in hospitals providing care in the ICU (intensive care unit), cardiac, and surgical units, she decided to go back to graduate school to advance her career.
She attended graduate school from 2014-2017, and earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) Degree in 2017 from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
With a personal mission of providing healthcare in her rural community of South Dakota, she started her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017. She worked in the McIntosh Community Clinic with Horizon Healthcare from 2017-2025, providing compassionate and comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages across a large region of South Dakota and North Dakota.
In 2025, Melissa decided to expand her career by opening her own healthcare business, Day Family Healthcare, LLC. This allows her to provide healthcare via telemedicine to her local community, as well as across the states of South Dakota and North Dakota.
Melissa and her husband Del have two beautiful children. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities such as camping, riding horse, and gardening.
